Description
Bakersfield Self-catering Cottages is located on a smallholding in a scenic valley just a short drive from Kokstad.

The cottages overlook Mount Currie and each has one bedroom with twin beds and an en-suite bathroom. The cottages have TVs with DStv as well as heaters and each unit has a kitchen that is equipped with a two-plate gas stove, a microwave, a fridge, pots, pans, cutlery, crockery as well as a kettle and a toaster. Braai facilities are also available.

The Kokstad area is popular for its many rivers and dams that provide opportunity for trout fishing. There three reserves in the area are Mount Currie, Wilfred Bauer with its lovely picnic spots, and the Mountain Lake Nature Reserve. The Mountain Lake Nature Reserve is a small reserve with over 220 species of birds for bird lovers, as well as tracks and paths that provide wonderful walks. The Crystal Dam provides ample boating and angling opportunities.

We enjoyed the peaceful environment with wide views of the mountains and the chequered farmland. The cold breakfast was great with good variety. Jenny was a friendly and helpful host.<br /> <br /> It gets cold at night in winter, but there were enough heaters and blankets to keep ourselves warm.<br />
