Pomene Bay Lodge is situated in one of the most picturesque places in Mozambique. It is remote, with a very low local population assuring pristine and unspoilt conditions. The lodge is 605 km north of Maputo and 170 km south of Vilanculos. It is situated on a narrow peninsula with the Indian Ocean lapping at its front doorstep, and the crystal clear waters of a spectacular mangrove estuary lapping on the other.

Guests are no more than a one-minutes walk from the white beach sand and the warm Indian Ocean. The lodge is advantageously located in the Pomene Bay, offering a sheltered haven for swimming. Here one cannot escape the rhythmic sound of the ocean nor miss seeing perfect sunsets over the estuary.

The bar overlooks the pool and estuary, and is a perfect place for sunsets and fishing tales. This is where one can enjoy a meal alfresco on the restaurant balcony. Fresh fish and crab are menu favourites, however meals to suit all tastes are on offer.

Our diving is world class and is regarded by some as the best diving in Mozambique. The density and variety of marine life is astounding. We have 12 regular dive sites and still many more to be explored. Our dive centre provides all scuba equipment, air fills and regular departures to the reefs with depths varying between eight and 30 metres. We are a PADI affilliated dive resort.

Pomene is renowned for offering some of the best game fishing in Mozambique. Hard fighting adversarys such as wahoo, kingfish, tuna, couta and billfish congregate in these waters to test your tackle and your skill. We have a charter boat for hire, including an experienced skipper who knows the local waters well; all rods, tackle and bait are included. The unspoilt waters of Pomene are world-renowned for the most incredible fish life.

Pomene Lodge in Pomene Bay Reviewed by wayne greyvenstein, South Africa on . Lovely place Pomene is a lovely place. Very difficult to get to the lodges but very pretty when you are there. The "luxury" lodge we stayed in was really nice, except the shower which neither looked good nor was working. Most of all it is very expensive and we could only afford to stay for one night. Still I do not regret visiting.
