Description
Cubekaya and Modkaya are part of the same beachfront estate and can be booked separately, allowing for two families to enjoy vacation together while keeping their privacy. This unique, contemporary eco-friendly house presents a new approach to recreational property. The house is only 40 km from Maputo, situated in Macaneta Island, making it the perfect gateway for a relaxing stay.
On the ground floor is the living space with a kitchen, a dining area, a seating area, a storage area and a toilet. Upstairs is an open sleeping area accommodating four guests and a bathroom. On the side of the house is a sail covering the decking area with a braai facility and an eating place.
The two-storey loft house offers a large sliding window to take advantage of the surroundings and the beautiful sea view. The main bed has a high quality mosquito net and a side fan for those hot nights.

A casa é muito boa mas necessita de manutenção urgente. o Alex é fantastico, mas falta material para a manutenção como: cortinas de duche e lâmpadas. A louça é insuficiente e os pratos são plásticos. O tapete (desnecessario) da sala estava encardido. A rampa de acesso a porta da casa é perigosa, mais valia terem posto uns degraus. Um aluguer caro como o desta casa exige mais atenção a estes pormenores.<div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><em>We stayed two nights in this fabulous home, on the beach Macaneta. The house is very good but needs urgent maintenance. Alex is fantastic, but lack material for maintenance as: shower curtains and lamps. The Dish is insufficient and the plates are plastic. The carpet (unnecessary) the room was dirty. The ramp to the front door is dangerous, added value they put some steps. An expensive rental like this house requires more attention to these details.</em></div>

Great Way to Spend a Relaxed HolidayCubekaya and Modkaya (and the smaller houses) are very well designed and blend in well with the beautiful surroundings. The assistant, Titus, is a great guy, who speaks good english and can organise just about anything.
Basic kitchen appliances are available (microwave, stove, kettle, fridge, coffee maker) but you would do well to bring a sharp knife, spatula, braai tongs, some bowls and mugs. Mosquito repellent and mosquito coils are also highly recommended.
The surroundings are beautiful and you are only a few 100 meters from the beach. In the mornings a troupe of monkey walks past through the surrounding trees. Fishermen can be found on the beach bringing their catch and you are welcome to inspect their nets and haggle for some fish.
The island is very rural and a 4x4 is required to get to the house.
There are opportunities for chartered fishing, quad bike hire and horse riding, but the island is best for relaxing in the veranda, hanging out on the beach, and taking day trips to other places.
If you don't feel like cooking there are a number of restaurants on the island, but be prepared for a long wait. The Linefish is good almost everywhere.
Oh, and don't forget about the ferry!! The island is very popular with locals, and you can end up waiting for over 3 hours to get on, and the passage is quite chaotic with people, cars and animals crammed on board. LUCKILY the government is due to build a bridge very soon, which should take care of the long waits.
All in all Cubekaya is a great place for a relaxing getaway.
