Amohela ho Spitskop Country Retreat is a 310 hectare country retreat located in the magnificent Eastern Free State Highlands, on the Clocolan/Ficksburg border. Nestled in a valley between Ficksburg and Clocolan, a visit to this privately owned reserve is an absolute must.

Dassie Guest House, the original sandstone farmhouse, has been lovingly extended and restored, with spacious free-standing garden bedrooms tucked away in the beautiful gardens. All the bedrooms are en-suite with either king- or queen-size beds, percale linen, heated blankets and a combustion of wood burning fires for those chilly Free State winters.

Accommodation includes scrumptious breakfasts and three-course candle-lit dinners.

Built from beautiful local stone, the cottages are large, luxurious and tastefully equipped for self-catering, with exceptional décor. Boasting huge open fires, big comfy couches, books, magazines and views to die for, this is the perfect getaway for the discerning guest.

The retreat offers fly fishing for trout and black bass, walking, hiking, mountain and cycle trails, birding, small game, self-drive day trips, seclusion and privacy as well as incredibly beautiful night skies and endless silence. Dinner was amazing - a proper "mom"-made meal. The hosts are extra lovely! Rooms were well appointed with everything you'd need. Lovely place for walks.
