Description
Wolwefontein Lodge is a spacious four-bedroom guest house situated on a working farm just 30 km outside Colesberg on the N9. The lodge provides a quiet, scenic stopover for those travelling towards Port Elizabeth and the Garden Route, and a drive to the farm is almost like envisioning an oasis - a great contrast to the stark beauty of the Karoo, as lovely green lands and a forest of poplar trees lay just below the guest house. Relax in the solidarity of the vast serene space at the lodge and be in peace with the abundant wilderness and animal life.
At Wolwefontein, there is always heaps of fun activities for children to do. Most of the year there are little orphan lambs to feed, sometimes there may even be a baby buck. From August, the mares will have their foals running and playing nearby and if you are really lucky, you may even get to see a mare foaling. Aside from the animals on the farm, play is only limited to the imagination, and mom and dad can relax in peace.
Unwind in the four large, spacious bedrooms, each with its own en-suite or private bathroom to wash away the tension of the day. All rooms promise comfortable beds with crisp sheets for a restful night. Two bedrooms can accommodate families of four each, one bedroom sleeps two guests, and a cosy bedroom with a fireplace sleeps three guests. Each bedroom also has its own TV with guest house DStv bouquet.
Enjoy the barbecue facilities under the star-filled sky or take a cool dip in the swimming pool at the main house. Undercover parking is provided, and two cots are available for guests with babies or toddlers, free of charge.
Wolwefontein Lodge is ideally situated for day trips of the surrounding areas, such as Graaff-Reinet, a lovely little town to explore with much history just 160 km away. Colesberg museum offers much information about the Boer War as well as interesting walks through the town and surrounding area with regards to the Boer War skirmishes and sites. The Gariep Dam is 70 km away and one can organize day trips on a house boat or just have a nice day relaxing by the waterside. White water rafting and horse riding can also be done near the dam.

Wolwefontein Lodge in Noupoort Reviewed by Catherine Haddon, South Africa on . GoodWe only spent one night in Kudu cottage, but would definitely go there again. It is easily accessible from the N9, but is in a peaceful and quiet setting with a garden with peacocks, blue cranes and a baby springbok, not to mention the friendly dogs. The bedroom was large, with a nice shower room and there was a comfortable living room. A fridge and microwave were provided as well. We self-catered, and found everything there for our needs, including fresh milk. However, without a stove it might be difficult to cater for any length of time.
