Cara Domhain is a comfortable country home situated in the small, peaceful village of Wittedrift only 15 minutes drive from the centre of Plettenberg Bay. The spacious (120 sq.m.) ground floor apartment opens onto a lush garden alive with birdsong. The unit, which sleeps four, is fully furnished with its own bathroom and kitchen. An unusual, fun feature is the table tennis table – a great boon for adults and children alike, and a more healthy activity than watching television. There is a DVD player. We are a non-smoking establishment.

Wittedrift sits snugly in the Bitou Valley, a paradise for bird watchers, where you can enjoy a delightful stroll beside the vlei and river. We are a few minutes’ drive from the Eden-Addo hiking trail.

The village has three shops, and worth particular mention is the butchery owned and stocked by local farmers who are well known for providing Plettonians with delicious, organic meat. Children can play safely in the street or in the village skateboard park.

Cara Domhain strives for a light, environmental footprint and guests are welcome to help themselves to produce in season from the organic garden. Friendly dogs and children are welcome.

The beaches of Plett are outstanding, but lesser known are the rocky beaches of the Keurbooms area, also only 12 minutes away.

This area of stunning natural beauty offers a wide variety of attractions such as Monkeyland, Elephant Park, Snake Park, other bird and wildlife sanctuaries and even two game reserves. Activities include sea and river kayaking, swimming, surfing, sky diving, snorkelling, golf, tennis, horse riding, boating, marine safaris and hiking.

Many artists and craftsman have made their home here and contribute greatly to the ambience of this friendly, relaxed community.

Approaching from the south along the N2, you pass two turn-offs to Plettenberg Bay town on your right. After the second turn-off it is 6 km to the Uniondale road R340, where you turn left. After a further 4 km you turn left towards Wittedrift. As you enter the village turn left at the NGK church; after approximately 100m turn right into Strydom Road. Cara Domhain is the second house on the right. It is the only double storey house on the street. Expect a warm welcome!
