Description
Shikwaru Lodge offers an outdoor experience beyond comparison. A mere two-hour drive from Gauteng, the lodge is situated 28 km south of Mokopane in the Limpopo province of South Africa. The lodge acts as the perfect destination for tourists, conferences, weddings, wildlife enthusiasts, birdwatchers and anglers.

Our accommodation includes luxury chalets, luxury tented camps and a bush camp. We cater for individuals, families and groups. Our conference centre seats up to 150 people and is ideal for corporate meetings and training sessions.

Shikwaru is the Shona name for Pangolin. The farm was named Shikwaru after a Pangolin was seen on the farm. A visit to Shikwaru promises a lasting memory of tranquillity, spectacular scenery and a wealth of historical and cultural treasures nearby. The 1200 hectare farm is a malaria-free environment and the land lies in the summer rainfall zone with wet summers and cool dry winters.

Shikwaru has recently embarked on breeding programmes to establish breeding herds of buffalo, sable antelope and nyala. The main objective of these programmes is to breed exceptional quality stock for re-sale as breeding stock.

Shikwaru Lodge in Mokopane (Potgietersrus) Reviewed by Elrize Van Zyl, South Africa on . What a disappointment This was the worst experience of my life. We usually camp, but decided to book a chalet - we would have been better off in our tent. The photos on the website does not look even remotely the same as the real thing. We booked for 6 people, when we arrived there was only place for 4 people (only 4 of everything) - they did say they misread the booking. We phoned and e-mailed to find out what facility etc there was. They said there was a two-plate stove with pots and pans and a microwave. There weren't a two-plate stove or a "braaier" or pots and pans - we had to drive all the way back to the office to ask for it. There were no extra blankets; so two of us had no place to sleep. There were not any crockery to use in the microwave. We asked for a braaier; and when we used it; the bottom of the braaier were full of holes; so most of our fire ended up on the ground. I think it was the overall feeling that we were not welcome that made us leave early - they did not ask why or offer any reasonable explanation why no preparation were made for our visit - we even paid in full before arriving. We will never go back, and will definitely not recommend this to anyone. The only reason my rating has one star is due to the fact that you can't give a 0.
